Fledgling I was amazed to see how
big fledgling bald eagles get before they mature. This one
landed near our drift boat on the Kasilof River looking for
scraps.
See text list of Alaskan
birds.

The bald eagle fledgings lack the distinctive white head
and tail of the adult bald eagles until they are 4-5 years
old. Their diet consists mainly of fish and as a result they
are commonly spotted along the salmon-laden waters of
interior Alaska. The fledgling photograph captured here is a
common and enjoyable part of the Alaska fishing
experience!
