Northern fur seals and sea otters flourished in this desolate and remote corner of the earth. They brought in the Aleuts to hunt them and then left them behind after nearly extinguishing the species. This baron landscape is now home to blue arctic fox, countless sea birds, and millions of fur seals... but the otters have never returned.
